Resolutions for Presentation to the 2019 AGM

WHEREAS: The risk of getting shingles is growing and of serious concern for seniors, and
WHEREAS: The cost of the shingles vaccine is more than most seniors can afford, and
WHEREAS: The rising cost of medications, property taxes, ICBC, power, phone, gas, food, etc. continues to grow and our pensions are unable to keep pace, thus making it much more difficult for seniors to cover all of these increasing costs, and
WHEREAS: The Government of Ontario is reminding seniors who are turning 65 in 2017 that, starting January 1st, they will be eligible to get the shingles vaccine free of charge.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The Government of British Columbia, through the Medical Services Plan, cover the cost of the Shingles Vaccine for all Seniors over the age of 65.

WHEREAS: The B.C. Medical Services Plan pays $46.73 for one eye exam per year for Seniors aged 65 and over, and
WHEREAS: The cost for an eye exam in B.C. exceeds this amount, making if difficult for most seniors to afford.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The Government of British Columbia through the Medical Services Plan provide an annual free service for eye examinations for all seniors age 55 and over.

WHEREAS: As we age, our hearing diminishes, causing our quality of life to deteriorate, and
WHEREAS: The cost of hearing aids is more than most seniors can afford.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The Government of British Columbia through the Medical Services Plan, provide a subsidy towards the cost of purchasing hearing aids for all seniors age 55 and over.
