REPORT TO REGIONAL SPRING MEETING

April 10, 2017, held at the TRAIL SENIOR CENTRE

 

GREETINGS FROM GRAND FORKS

There were approximately 117 members registered for the Seniors Branch 68.

The following activities were done during the year:

Carpet Bowling, Crib, Kung Fu, Crafts-Quilters-Art, Whist and Choir. There are three quilt groups – Quilt Connection, Kiss Quilters and Loose Threads. Our hall is used every day for the various activities.

There were 78 rentals during the year with an income of $7,175.00.

Activities are:      Crib – $1,666.00

Carpet Bowling – $391.00

Choir – $97.00

Dances – $772.00

Crafts – Quilters – $535.00

The Net Income for 2016 was $5,290.59

Our Hall had new flooring installed using a New Horizons Grant, as well as a new kitchen vent system. The small room flooring (carpet) is also being replaced with commercial grade linoleum.

An old stage was removed prior the flooring being done as it was cited to be a safety hazard.

On October 22, 2016, a Thanksgiving Dinner was provided for all Seniors of Grand Forks. The meal was catered by Twisted Forks and funding was provided by the following: Legion Branch 59, Seniors Branch 68, Grand Forks Community Christmas Dinner and Grand Forks Credit Union. There were 205 people served at two separate sittings. The hall use is provided by Branch 68 members, who do the initial setup and final cleanup.
