4. Grand Forks Seniors – Branch 68
Report to West Kootenay/Boundary Regional Meeting – Balfour, B.C.
April 3, 2018
To date, we have 100 paid up members.
Our activities are Carpet Bowling, Cards (which is Crib), quilting, and Kung Fu.
Carpet bowling is on Monday and Wednesday mornings. The attendance for this has been increasing lately.
On Monday and Thursday afternoons we have cards. Our people love to play crib and both days are well attended. There is a crib tournament in the spring and fall.
On Monday and Wednesday evenings we have Kung Fu with a half hour of an easy stretch before they get into the hard stuff.
On Tuesdays, we have crafts, which include painting, both acrylic and oil, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and anything else you like to do.
We have two different quilting groups that come in on different Fridays.
We held our annual Thanksgiving Dinner in October. We held two sittings for one hundred people each. It is always well attended and enjoyed.
We rent our hall out to pay our bills, however, last May we had to cancel our rentals for the first two and one-half weeks due to flooding and a bad sewer problem. This caused our revenue to fall a bit, however, things seem to be back to normal now and we are being swamped with rentals at this time.
Sincerely submitted
