NAKUSP SENIOR CITIZENS’ BRANCH # 71

Report to West Kootenay/Boundary Regional Meeting – Balfour, B.C.

April 3, 2018

January 2017 –              President Ruth Withal took the Chair.

Pancake Breakfast on the 3rd Sunday of the month was started.

A cell phone was purchased for the clubhouse.

Sound Panels for the ceiling of the clubhouse have arrived and are being installed.

February 2017 –            Repairs to the electrical room were done.

Seniors did the legion Meat Draw for the month of February.

Seniors paid for the labour costs to put a backup camera on the Medical Bus. This Bus was purchased by the Arrow Lakes Health Care Auxiliary.

March 2017 –                Pancake Brunch, Coffee Wednesdays, Singing, Exercises, Bridge and Quilting were all enjoyed during the month.

April 2017 –                  Karaoke night was put on by the Seniors, the Community Services Activity Coordinator and the Better At Home Services. This evening was enjoyed by the Seniors, the residents of Halcyon House and the residents of the Arrowtarian Housing Units.

May 2017 –                   Decided to apply for a New Horizons Grand for new flooring.

June 2017 –                   The usual activities. Lots of rentals.

July & August 2017 –   No meetings were held.  We entered a float in the July 1st parade. It consisted of a flat deck with flags from all around the world depicting that we must all pull together and love and respect all nationalities.

Our usual Wednesday coffee mornings and singing took place.

September 2017 –         10 new large tables were purchased for our hall.

We participated in the Silver Fox Run on September 21st.  This is a short walk for all seniors and donations were accepted to the Terry Fox Run. Halcyon House served a lovely lunch after the walk.

A Memorial Service was held by the Seniors for one of our oldest members who had recently passed away.

October 2017 –              Nominating Committee struck.  Our general meeting was held on a very dark and stormy day. No lights and trees and branches falling all over the ground.

November 2017 –          Month-end dinner was another Karaoke Night. Very enjoyable.

Allan Hale was elected our new president for 2018.

December 2017 –          Our usual Christmas Dinner. Installation of new officers took place at the Christmas Dinner.
