MIDWAY SENIOR CITIZENS’ BRANCH # 117

8. Midway Seniors – Branch 117

Report to West Kootenay/Boundary Regional Meeting – Balfour, B.C.

April 3, 2018

Midway Seniors is nearing the end of our renovations using the New Horizons grants. We have put in about $90,000.00 dollars’ worth of renovations in the past few years.

Later this summer, we want to paint our sign so that it is visible and also to add a new sign.

Since the beginning of March, we have installed new lights in our main meeting room and lounge. The last project we will do is to pave our parking area.

Since January, our new vision is to increase our membership. Our membership to date is 47. We plan to advertise to do this.

We have already added advertising at our local library on the outdoor marquee. We have new posters up as well. Business cards with our open hours and list of days and weekly events on it have been printed, this is very handy to give to prospective new members, and small enough to keep in their wallets. Our members are being encouraged to invite their friends as well. We have asked the Village to add our weekly events to the Midway newsletter. We are open on Mondays at 2 p.m. for Art. Tuesdays we play Wii games at 9:30 a.m.  Thursday is Crafts at 9:30 a.m. and Friday at 9:30 a.m. is Bingo every other Friday and Coffee on alternate Fridays at 9:30 a.m. We have a beautiful pool table and we enjoy that four mornings a week.

We have our business meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. and Birthday Tea on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Last Wednesday of the month is our Potluck at 5 p.m. which is also a social time for our members.

We welcome you to stop in and have a tour through our building and join in our events anytime.

Respectfully Submitted,

Richard Battersby, President
